Lynne Mowbray The Rotary Club of Yamba’s annual New Year’s Day Twilight Markets in Coldstream Street, Yamba had only been going for about 20 minutes, when it was hit by a wild storm. Rotary Club President Sandy Hovey said that stall owners did well to hold their gazebo’s down, during the storm. “A couple of stall owners had to pack up due to water damage,” said Ms Hovey. “The water in the gutter was about a metre wide and a few people were hit with hail. “The storm only lasted about 20 minutes and then it cleared. “Within about 15 minutes a crowd started turning up and everyone began to enjoy the event. “The Rotary Club ran a chocolate wheel and several raffles which totalled over $4000 in prizes. “We lost about an hour of trading (due to the storm) so we were a bit down on last year, but all in all we did pretty well and everyone had a good time. “We’d like to thank all our members and partners for their assistance and the public for coming out after the storm was over. “We’d also like to thank all the stall owners, who stuck it out,” she said.
