Why not join Osprey RSL Day Club?

Happy New Year to all our wonderful Osprey members; may 2020 bring you much joy and happiness as we continue to market our special brand of fun and friendship. Last year saw our membership numbers increase to 43, although a few members only participate on alternate weeks to enable them to continue with other activities they enjoy too.

Several people have told me that they will be joining us this year and I encourage them to come along on our first day back on Friday February 7. It is so much easier to settle in to the routine when everyone is fresh and new. You will be made so welcome by our members and volunteers.

What do you get for your $15 I hear you say? First of all you can avail yourself of free transport to and from the Bowling Club. Paul our bus driver will pick you up from your home, and drop you back there at the end of the day if desired. A beautiful morning tea is served to you at your table at approximately 10am by the volunteers…which means you can talk and talk to your friends.

Following morning tea we do ten minutes of very gentle exercises designed to improve body strength and balance….and wear off the calories consumed at morning tea. Then it is time for a quick quiz to stimulate the brain. This a fun segment that brings out fierce competition between the tables and promotes much chatter and thought. Chocolates are the incentive there.

Then it’s game time until lunchtime. There are many games to be played but the most popular are Euchre, Uno and Rummikub. Also available are 500, Scrabble and Cribbage, or any other game you might like to suggest. We aim to please. There are also colouring books and pens available to the more creative people.

A hot lunch is served at 12.30pm and I can assure you Craig ensures we have variety in our menu and will also cater to dietary needs if required. A nice cuppa accompanies lunch too.

But wait. There is more! Included in your $15 are tickets in the weekly lucky door prize, tickets in the two $20 Coles vouchers and Bingo prizes of groceries. The Bingo commences immediately after lunch and is the last activity of the day, ceasing at 2.45pm, following which you will be taken home to rest and recuperate after a wonderful day in the company of so many new and old friends.

Now, all that being said, the rest is up to you. If you would like to become a member of Osprey, or perhaps just want to come along and see what we do, then please ring Leanne on 0413 101 518 and she will do the rest.
