Life in the Clarence Valley can be as diverse as the landscape – while one person travels to work by boat, another saddles up and rides off to check the cattle. The region’s tourism website, www.myclarencevalley.com, has put the call out for people to contribute stories about life in the valley. Clarence Valley Council’s destination officer, Lou Gumb, said she was looking for stories of how people connected with the landscape, culture and people in the region. “Each story will act as a window into this beautifully diverse part of the world,” she said. The stories will be published on the Our Stories section of the website. One story already published followed artist and youth worker Dean Loadsman as he taught preschool children about local Aboriginal culture. “The river connects the three nations, the Bundjalung, Gumbaynggirr and Yaegl – it’s like the crossroads where the three nations all connect,” Mr Loadsman said. Another story spoke of adventures kayaking down the Clarence River. If you have a story to tell about life in the Clarence Valley, whether it’s yours or someone else’s, email the story, about 500 words, to visit@myclarencevalley.com.aufor consideration.
