Salvos prepare for Red Shield Appeal

Lynne Mowbray | The Salvation Army are once again preparing for their annual Red Shield Appeal on 26 and 27 May. Captain Martin Herring from the Salvation Army Grafton said that they are looking for more volunteers to help door knock this year. “Volunteers can contact us here in Grafton, at the Salvation Army at 91 Oliver Street and also the Salvation Army in Maclean, if they can assist with the door knock,” Capt. Herring said. “Volunteers will need to contact us before the 26 and 27 May, with proof of identity to sign up to assist and get the appropriate authorisation to door knock. “There will be three static collection points in Grafton; Coles at Grafton Mall, Grafton Shoppingworld and Bunnings at South Grafton where the community can donate in the lead up to the event. “Last year close to $14,000 was raised in this area and we are hoping to raise around the same this year. “The money raised will go to help the homeless by providing accommodation and food and also help to care for those with addictions,” he said.
