Podium finish for Grafton kart racer

Clarence Valley karting competitor Thomas Gallagher (age 15), has taken out 3rd place in the KO2 class at the International ‘Race of Stars’ karting event on October 17-19, at Pimpama, on the Gold Coast.

Gallagher’s mother Michelle said that Thomas (who is a member of the Grafton Karting Club), has been into karting since the age of seven.

“The International karting meet saw competitors travelling from France, Italy and New Zealand to compete,” Michelle said.

“To compete in ‘Race of Stars’ you have to be invited.

“They had a qualifying heat, then three heats and the final.

“During Thomas’s race, they had about five laps to go and it started to rain and a few of them were sliding and Thomas got 3rd.

“So a podium finish was really, really good.

“Thomas was supported by his pit crew; father Jeremy (mechanic) and mother Michelle and brother William (who is also a karting enthusiast), – it’s a family affair,” she said.
