No room in the Inn

Clarence Valley holiday accommodation during the Christmas/New Year period in the beachside locations of Yamba, Iluka, Brooms Head, Minnie Waters and Wooli, was booked to capacity this year.

Holiday parks had to turn away keen holiday makers who were hoping to pick up last minute accommodation.

Most of the coastal caravan parks and resorts were reportedly booked out solid for a three to four week period, with some remaining booked out until the end of January.

Those unable to find accommodation on the coastal strip were forced to head further inland.

Woombah Woods Caravan Park received the overflow from Iluka, until they too became full and had to direct people further afield to Browns Rocks, Broadwater, Coraki, Lismore or south to the Grafton Showground and racecourse.

At Yamba, the Calypso Caravan Park (which is fully booked until the end of January), had to re-direct people to the Maclean Showground and further afield.

Brooms Head Caravan Park reported that they were extremely busy this year compared to previous years; having to turn 100’s away. It was also reported that the camping areas at Sandon River and Lake Arragan at Red Cliff, were also overflowing.

The villages of Minnie Waters and Wooli were also busy especially around the New Year period, with a lot of people being re-directed to Grafton.
