‘Musically inclined’ – Pacific Valley Christian School

God was well honoured by the joyful noise made at this year’s Music Showcase.

Senior music students each played two of their prepared HSC pieces to a generous audience at the Yamba Golf and Country Club. The program featured a variety of musical numbers and showcased the diverse talents and gifts of our senior music students. Some of the more memorable songs sung were Imagine Dragons “Warriors” sung by Jacob, Albert Kings blues masterpiece “Born Under a Bad Sign” played by Tyler, country diva Kasey Chambers piece “I’m a Little Bit Lonesome” sung by Amy, and the Beatles classic “Blackbird” played by Deklyn on guitar.

The night also featured the Shine group singing a variety of praise and worship music, the year 7 and 8 classroom caveman bucket band playing their loud and audacious drum cadences, and last but not least was our years 9 and 10 senior musicians playing a variety of numbers such as Vance Joy’s Riptide, Natasha Bedingfield’s pop anthem Unwritten, and the Bee Gee’s classic piece Staying Alive.

Encore! nomination

Our creative arts department has also received the news that Tyler McDonald has been nominated for Encore!, a prestigious concert featuring the top HSC music performances from all high schools across New South Wales. If selected, Tyler will perform at Encore! in Sydney in February next year at the Angel Street recital hall. This is a tremendous honour for Tyler and for our school. We are very proud of all of our HSC musicians and the outstanding effort they have put in this year for their HSC.
