Maclean HS athletes off to State Championships

Wow! What a performance from our Maclean High students as they represented Northern Rivers Zone at the North Coast Regional competition on Thursday August 8. All of our 24 students placed 6th or higher in their respective events with our best achievements including seven 3rd places, seven 2ndplaces and ten 1st places.

Students who came in the top two are now off to the NSW State Championships from September 4-6.

Congratulations to all students for their fantastic performances especially to the following 12 athletes who have made it through to state as a North Coast Representative in their respective events.

Melanie Laurie – 1st (17+yrs shot put); Kalani Mooney – 1st (16yrs shot put); Alec Priona – 2nd (16yrs long jump); Annabelle Curry -1st (15yrs relay); Madeline Hollis – 1st (15yrs relay); Will McGrath-Moran – 1st (15yrs javelin); Carissa Miltiadou – 1st (15yrs relay); Jarrett Power-Casson – 2nd (15yrs long jump and javelin); Anika Swift – 1st (15yrs 100m, 200m, long jump, relay and 2nd 400m); Kane Wells – 2nd (15yrs 800m); Zeah Fox – 2nd (14yrs high jump); Zane Lowe – 2nd (13yrs discus).
