Ulmarra RSL Sub-Branch turns 100

It was a significant event with the Ulmarra RSL Sub-Branch reaching its centenary; 100 years of supporting and looking out for our veterans.

Accepting the award for the 100 years from RSL NSW President James Brown, was Dale Wright. I acknowledge the Executive of the Ulmarra RSL Sub Branch: President – Geoffrey Lenz; Treasurer – Dale Wright; Secretary – Steven Davis.

It was celebrated with a carnival day for the three local schools, Ulmarra, Tucabia and Cowper.

Thanks also to Ken Cowan, President of Ulmarra P&C who organised the tri-school carnival in association with the Ulmarra Sub-Branch to support such an important occasion: President-Geoffrey Lenz; Treasurer-Dale Wright; Secretary-Steven Davis.

I recently attended a fundraiser for The Gallery Foundation, the Art in the Paddock.

Thank you to Yulgilbar for opening their gardens for this community event.

There were great works from local artists, musicians and food.

Rod and the team of volunteers do an amazing job putting this day together for everyone to enjoy.

Grafton Legacy had their AGM recently. I thank the outgoing and incoming executive.

Legacy do wonderful work for both veterans and their families.

I thank all service men and women for their service and Legacy for the important role they play.

Now you’re here …

… the Independent would like to ask for your support. The community is reading our paper more than ever and embracing the content we produce, but advertising revenues across the media as a whole, are falling. Unlike other news organizations we do not charge for our publication – so, to keep our community connected and deliver the local news to your door we would like to ask for your help..... to keep the Independent bringing you all the local community news takes a lot of time, hard work and people power, But we do it because we believe our presence matters – who else tells it how it is, where it is, and what it is.

If you like our journalism, if you like the community news, if you like our sports coverage we would love it if you could help fund it, our future may depend on it. For as little as $5, you can support the Independent – Thank you.
