Runner up for Div 2 was Bob Wissink who was happy to win an Iluka Quality Meats tray, but it seems a not so happy Jim Wride doing the presentation filling in for absent captain Peter McCurtayne.

Iluka Saturday golf Stableford

Saturday’s event was an individual Stableford event for two Divisions, with a good field of starters playing in superb conditions on a course again presented in excellent condition; many thanks to greenkeeper, Doug Turner and his band of Merry Volunteers.

The day was sponsored by John and Delmay Haydon, of Iluka Quality Meats, always offering generous support to our golf club and we are grateful for their efforts.

The Iluka Golf Club welcomed visitors today from all over including Burrum District, North Ryde, Yamba, Maclean and Lawrence. Good to see so many visitors enjoying our golf course and reacquainting relationships.

Overall winner for Div 1 was Sam McDonald with 39 points on c/b from Bob Wissink also on 39 points. Bob (that’s me) had a sad tale of woe, 4 putting the 17th followed up with 3 putting the 18th, so it is off to the practice green for some long putting sessions for your truely. Sam on the other hand showed no remorse for me, and with a new set of blinkers after his recent cataract operations, could now see the ball, and like ‘Winx’, came back well after a spell.

Kevin Leader won Div 2 with a solid 40 points with our own John Williams r/up with a good 38 points. Kevin Leader, a regular visitor from the Burrum District in Queensland was pleased with the large meat tray he won and promised some good barbeques over the next week at his Anchorage caravan site, we are all invited!

NTP’s: 1 / 10 – Jim Pritchard; 6 / 15 – Barry George; 8 / 17 – Gordon Farrell and ladies 2nd shot 1 / 10 was visitor Jacky Smithson. Well done to all.

The ball rundown went on forever with 12 players earning a golf ball with 35 points or better.

A fond ‘get well’ message was announced for Jim Lowe who is still in Lismore Hospital, but we were reassured he is making good progress and hope we see him back soon.

Good luck to all Pennant players.

Bob Wissink (filling in for Macca)
