Iluka – Happy Gilmore Fun Golf

The Happy Gilmore Fun Team Ambrose played on a shortened 9 hole course continues to draw new faces. We are very pleased to see so many new faces participating in this relaxing fun time golf at the end of a busy day. Eight teams took their place in a crowded field which quickly spread across the course with the shotgun start format.

The winners this week certainly benefitted from their name change from ‘Sleazy Accommodation’ to a much more fitting ‘Quality Accommodation’ which is a much better projection of the Clarence Head Caravan Park and it’s surrounds. Well done boys. The winning score of 24.25 was too hard to beat aided and abetted by team comedian, Trevor Blackburn, who just can’t keep quiet for a millisecond.

Mark Adey, our Club professional, commenced the presentations and was in the process of announcing the ‘Winx Winners’ as coming in stone cold motherless last, which prompted our inept photographer to start snapping pics of the ‘Winx Winners’, which prompted a huge outcry of  “They came last Bobby”. Well Bobby kept taking pics from all angles, before he was ejected and the presentations went ahead. Must have tickets on themselves these ‘Winx Winners’ and played with a side of five players, and still came last. The photographer was last seen walking home by himself.

Team ‘Sore Losers’ also carded a very good 24.25 but must have been relegated by course superintendent, Mark Adey, for not coming up with the right combination over the last 3 holes.

Team ‘The Wrecking Balls’ were handily placed with a good score of 25, but it was not their night and allowed team ‘The Rogues’ to slip in front of them with a good 24.75.

Spare a thought for the hapless team, ‘The Allstars’, they came in with a brilliant 4 under the card, yes 4 birdies recorded by this group, sensational golf, but due to Mark Adey’s one sided view of handicapping, came in nowhere with a 26.9. A protest will be lodged, but it is feared that Club pro, Mark Adey, as the sole judge and jury will give the ‘Allstars’ little sympathy.

Everyone is welcome and even if you cannot form a team, come along and we will slot you into a friendly group. We all hit off around 5.30pm for some light hearted fun on the shortened course.

The Iluka Golf Club in conjunction with the Iluka Woombah Rotary Club are holding a great Benefit Day for the volunteer firefighters on Sunday, December 15, from 11am to 3.30pm with free sausage sizzle, two great live bands and Christmas ham raffles. Entry is by a bucket donation and all proceeds will go directly to the local volunteer fire fighters in Iluka and Woombah. So come along and support this wonderful cause and help convey our sincere thanks for all these wonderful firies.
