Hospital site

Ed, I write after seeing an advert for our local State Member seeking signatures to a petition to refurbish Grafton Base Hospital, a hospital that in 18 months will be a substantial distance from the new Pacific Motorway. Our esteemed Member would be better served seeking the $246 million to build a new Base Hospital in a location close and more accessible to the new Motorway. Such a site is currently being used at Harwood to produce concrete bridge parts and as a work compound. The site is already aquired land and raised above the 20 year flood level. It is close to an interchange of the Motorway and in a low residential area. Similar lateral thinking was employed at Macksville and seized on by the Government. Tom Porter, Gulmarrad
