Happy Paws Haven

Cats and kittens for adoption this week:

We get all cats vet checked prior to adoption to make sure that we comply to the standards required by any pet shop. We have adopted out well over 1200 cats over the last 12 years and only a very very small percentage having developed any illness as a result of the change in environment but now we are being extremely careful. All our animals are microchipped, immunised and desexed as soon as possible after they arrive. Noelene’s story: In beginning of September 2017 a beautiful cat called Noelene was bought in as her owner had abandoned her when they moved. New people moved in with a dog and were afraid for her. She is a very beautiful loving friendly young female slightly underweight. We suspected she might be pregnant and turned out to be. She gave birth to six beautiful kittens. We were feeding her special mother and baby kitten food giving extra supplements to help her but the babies took so much out of her that she had to go into hospital on a drip for a few days so that her body could recover. On her return she was welcomed by her babies and recovered nicely. The babies (now young cats) are ready to be rehomed as all have been desexed microchipped and immunised including Noelene. Noelene has a very quiet loving nature and needs a quiet home to spend the rest of her life. She also has a flea allergy so needs to ensure she has very regular flea treatments. She is very affectionate beautiful cat with a wonderful nature and would make someone an exceptional companion. Pele is a member of the P-team, rescued from Maclean last year; there were three pale apricot boys (Pele, Penn & Pete), two blue boys (Peppin & Perry), beautiful blue girl (Peggy) and a blue and apricot torti girl (Perdy) who looked just like her mother. They are all very beautiful, very friendly, extremely affectionate mischievous playful young cats and they look as if they are Burmese cross or maybe British shorthair. They have really beautiful thick lovely plush fur. They love their cuddles and love being groomed and would make exceptional companions. They have gentle natures and lovely personalities. They are all desexed, microchipped and immunised now ready for their new homes. They are just gorgeous young cats. Blossom was rescued as an abandoned cat after old owner moved out of a unit and left their cat behind. Neighbours found her scavenging for food and very thin so one of our volunteers took her in as a carer. We wondered at first whether she was pregnant even though she is not much more than a kitten herself but instead she was full of worms, so we got her microchipped, immunised and desexed. She had diarrhoea after the worming and desexing so we sent her poo to the vet to be analysed and found she had giardia as well. We have treated her for that and now at long last she is now well. She was vet checked last week and Dr Sam gave her a clean bill of health. She is a very beautiful young cat, with a very loving nature, playful, affectionate looking for a loving forever home. Being an oriental Lynx Point Tabby she can be a bit of a princess and will make sure everyone knows who is the boss.

Dogs for adoption for this week:

We get all dogs vet checked prior to adoption to make sure that we comply to the standards required by any pet shop. All our animals are microchipped, immunised and desexed as soon as possible after they arrive. All dogs are also tested to make sure that they do not have heart worm. We have rescued and adopted out well over 1300 dogs over the last 12 years. Alfie is a special male, an unusual mix of a Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, Staffy and a Labrador. He was a reluctant surrender due to his new landlord not allowing him to have his dog with him. Alfie has a very loving nature is wonderful with people and kids, gets on well with other dogs, not sure about cats as he does not know whether to bark at them or to play with them. He wants to be a part of the family and is not a dog to be left outside his family pack is inside. When left outside away from the pack he tried to jump a fence to get to them and cut his leg badly in the process. It is all well and truly healed and he has not tried to jump a fence since! He is a very smart dog so would love to go to training to learn new things to do. He is an affectionate dog and needs to continue his socialisation and training. He is desexed immunised microchipped and has had regular parasite and flea treatments My name is Patch but it used to be Tiger, I was surrendered because my owner was not allowed to keep me where he lived. His flatmates were told to get rid of me or move out. He bought me to this lovely place with lots of dogs and puppies to play with which is great fun. I am a normal playful young dog but I have been told I will be quite tall, not sure what breed I am but maybe great Dane, bull Arab and or mastiff, anyway I have been told it is something big, I think I am the biggest dog at Happy Paws Haven. They sent me to the vet and I have had an operation and my needles so I am ready to go and play with people now and go to school. It would be good if someone could give me a home where there is another biggish dog to play with and some people too. I am what they call a gentle giant and I am still growing I think? It my first birthday at the end of September! May I introduce you to Piper, a handsome young male, of the P-team who came as a litter at the end of August and they were about 4-5weeks old. The owner could not afford to feed them and he was going away so could not take them with him. Mum was a cairn terrier cross and dad we think was a cattle cross. They were full of fleas and worms when they arrived, it took a couple of weeks to get the worms out of their system. Now they are beautiful mischievous, playful gorgeous pups, healthy pups ready for puppy pre-school and dog training. They have been desexed, micro-chipped, immunised, and regularly treated for parasites HappyPaws Haven is open 7 days a week for animal adoptions.
