Grafton women’s golf – lets beat this virus

30th March 2020

Due to the scare and the new rules concerning the COVID-19 virus a small field of players contested the 18 hole Stroke last Wednesday. This event was sponsored by Toast Espresso. There will be not results recorded or posted for this and future events.

Women’s Golf Grafton have made a decision that all major events have been suspended until further notice. Our annual May Tournament has been postponed with a date to be advised. We will be running a 18 hole Stableford each Wednesday and Saturday for any members wishing to continue playing. All on line bookings are front nine only. Players are to arrive 10 minutes before tee off time, mark your own card and at the end of play, place card in the box at the Pro shop and leave, no player is to hang around the Pro shop or Club house.

No result will be published on social media or in this column. Any vouchers for Wednesday and Saturday that are to be given, the Captain will contact them.

For golfers wanting to play on Friday’s, Mark will be holding a 9 hole ball competition. Bookings can be made through him at the Pro shop. The Anne Bawden 4 ball Matchplay knockout semi final are suspended and to be played at a later date.

One of our retired golfers who enjoyed the game of golf with her friends, Margaret Coombes, passed away and we send out sympathy to her family.

Please adhere to these requests, we all want to beat this virus that has interrupted our lives as we knew it, wash your hands regularly, stay vigilant to stay safe.

Also, your scribe would like to let you know that the women’s Putt’s ‘n’ Pars will be having a little rest, but any updates will be published if need be.
