President Faye welcomed members to the May meeting, with a special presentation to new member, Barbara Franks, of her membership badge and officially welcomed her to our Club.

Guest speaker, Karen Filewood, gave an excellent presentation on the history of the collision between the Keilawarra and Helen Nicoll, steamships that plied the east coast of Australia, and the effect the collision had on those directly involved.

Secretary Helen Smith attended the recent 160th anniversary function of the Daily Examiner, which was very interesting, with historical items on loan from the Historical Society.

Five heaped trolleys of pre-loved clothing were delivered to The Smith Family shop in Coffs Harbour. This has become an annual event, with members and their friends all getting involved.

During the month nine members attended the Grafton CSW’s International lunch. The artifacts and guest speaker was very interesting and gave everyone a different aspect of life in Papua New Guinea.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday July 23, with guest speaker being Pat James, president of the Historical Society.
