Grafton U3A November Jabberfest

The Eleventh Hour of the Eleventh Day of the Eleventh Month.

Of course this will be Remberance Day and is quite unusual that this day would coincide exactly with the day in November that our Jabberfest meeting would be held. It will not happen again for many years to come.

So this will be a very solemn occasion when we will remember why we are there and the great sacrifices that were made by our forebears, that enable us to live the lives that we do in relative peace today.

We will pay our tributes on the day with  a brief introduction at 10.56 followed by a recording of the ‘Last Post’, then a reading of the Ode and the responses, followed by a minutes silence concluding with ‘Lest we Forget’ and finishing with a recording of ‘the Rouse’. There will be a contribution from Bill Kearns, who will read poetry and give us some historical facts relative to the occasion.

At the commencement of the meeting, some course / group leaders will promote their interest groups: Nola Mackey talking on Local History; Magda on Armchair Travel; Fiona on Creative Writing and Nick introducing a Climate Change Group to start in the New Year.

Morning tea will follow and all are requested to return to their seats by about 10.50am to allow for the Remberance Day activities to commence precisely on time.

Looking forward to another great roll up at the New Life Church, Arthur Street on Monday November 11 commencing at 10am.
