Community Christmas lunches

Lynne Mowbray |

While most of us will be sitting down to a wonderful Christmas lunch with our family, spare a thought for those who will spend Christmas alone.

There are many who for whatever reason, and through no fault of their own, be spending the day by themselves.

If you are one of those people who are facing a lonely Christmas, the good news is, you don’t have to be.

The Christmas spirit is alive and well in the Clarence Valley thanks to two community groups who will be hosting a FREE Christmas lunch, to ensure that everyone has a Merry Christmas.

Citivue Church at 75 Southhampton Road, South Grafton will be hosting a community Christmas Day lunch between 11.30am – 1.30pm for those within the community who otherwise may be lonely and miss out on the opportunity to share the day with family and friends.

This event is made possible and run purely on the generosity of the wider community who donate either cash or kind to the Food Care Grafton organisation under the auspices of Global Care Australia which is a tax deductable charity (a receipt will be given for any donations made).

The lunch will include a bit of fun and everyone will receive a goodie bag.

The lunch will cater for around 120 people and organisers would appreciate anyone wanting to attend, letting them know. Anyone is welcome and if you forget to contact them just turn up on the day.

For more information contact: Pastor Jon Baker 0412 950 199.

At the lower end of the valley, Wellspring in Treelands Drive, Yamba will also be holding a Community Christmas lunch from 12noon – 2pm. Anyone wanting to attend is also requested to register for catering purposes by 15 December.

Contact Wellspring Op shop to register, or contact yamba@wellspringcc.com.au or phone 6646 1580.

Don’t be alone this Christmas. Get along and be a part of the community and experience firsthand the Christmas spirit.
