Maclean Public School is hosting an after school Code Camp program for students during Term 2.

The introduction of the Code Camp program is a first for both Maclean and the Clarence Valley.

So what is a Code Camp?

It is a skilled based program where children learn the basics of coding, which is crucial in this day and age. The program is a fun way for students to learn how to design, code and problem solve. It helps them to become storytellers as they move from consumers to creators with technology, as they build their own apps and games.

The first Code Camp began in 2013 and it was initially held during the school holidays and is run throughout Australia. The Code Camp is now being offered as an after school program.

The SPARK Code Camp program is the most popular of the Code Camps and is the starting point for children beginning their coding journey.

The Maclean Public School will be hosting the Code Camp ‘SPARK’ program, which is aimed at students aged 7 – 12 years, on a Monday afternoon from 3.30 – 5pm, in the school library. The program will run for 10 weeks during term 2 and it is hoped that this will be the start of many future Code Camp programs held at the school.

All students are welcome and bookings are open online, until they fill up.
