Clarence River U3A ‘sign-on’ this Saturday

Welcome back, members, to our program for 2019.  I hope everyone enjoyed a happy and healthy Christmas break and time out from the daily stresses of life. Now it’s time to re-energise and get back into regular routines, including our stimulating groups.

Our ‘new membership/renewal of membership/group sign-on’ is at the Treelands Drive Community Centre on Saturday January 19 from 9.30am. The committee and group leaders will be available to help you, answer your questions, enrol you and enjoy chatting with you over morning tea.

We have over 560 members at the moment, but not all current members have paid their dues. So I urge you to come along on the 19th and pay your fees (which were due on December 31), or alternatively, pay by bank transfer. Please contact our membership officer Graham La Motte or treasurer Belinda Flowers (contact details are in The Clarion) for information.

Group Leaders have different start dates for 2019, so I encourage you to check out our website https://cru3a.u3anet.org.au/

Dawn Neilson’s ‘Art’ group will recommence on Friday January 18 for those who are available. This class is full due to lack of room space but will have a wait list.

The University of the 3rd Age is a wonderful way to continue life-long learning. We have over 30 groups where members enjoy learning new skills from our talented group leaders. Our program is not an academic one, but we offer a variety of interests from gardening, book clubs, lead lighting, discussion groups, Men’s and Women’s Sheds and much more.

Have you been on the existing ‘Book’ groups waiting list for a while and are wondering if you will ever be able to join? A new ‘Book’ group to cater for CRu3a members will start Thursday February 21 and will then meet on the third Thursday of each month at Caroona in Freeburn Ave. from 2 – 3.30pm. It will be facilitated by Robyn Adams who is an old hand at running CRu3a groups.

Robyn will be at the enrolment day sign in at Treelands Drive on January 19 to talk to prospective members who wish to enrol in the group. The group naturally has to be small to enable everyone to have an input so the first 13 names will go on the list. If you wish to talk to Robyn beforehand, her phone number is 6645 8676.

If you have a skill you would like to share with others, our group leader liaison officer, Anne Dinham (dinhams@aapt.net.au) would be very pleased to hear from you and assist you in setting up your group.

I look forward to meeting you on January 19, but if you have questions, you can contact me on 0410 896 116 or lbobrien08@bigpond.com
