On a cool and windy Tuesday morning (June 18) only the “Braveheart’s” gathered for their weekly ritual of golf. The excellent coffee from the pro shop was especially welcomed as 21 brave souls waited to get the starters gun for a shotgun start for a Foursomes event.
The course is in great shape, thanks to the untiring work of the grounds’ staff and member volunteers. We decided to tackle the back nine and it didn’t disappoint providing a great challenge for the Foursomes game.
Winners were John Grant (36) and Geoff Ryan (36) with a net 35 strokes. They each took away a bottle of Cab Sav just the tonic for this weather. (I think John’s hcp is up for review after that game).
Second were Kylie Ryan (21) and Elena Roylance (16) with a net 41.25 winning a great box of chocolates. Third were Bill Rorke (29) and Bruce Johnston (17) with a 41.50 taking home a Tartan Pizza prize for Bill and a Sassafras $10 meal ticket for Bruce.
With such a good field a fourth prize of a Sweet and Spicy meal voucher was presented to Carmel Rogers (44) and Mick Rogers (30) with a net 42.5.
NTP’s on the 11th went to Lynne Johnston/ Bruce Johnston at 1.02m and on the 17th John Grant and Geoff Ryan at 1.92m. They each receive a ball for their accuracy.

Braveheart’s Golf is open to all-comers, members and non members, no hcp required, just turn up at Maclean Golf Club at 9.30am for a 10am start… $3 plus green fees for non members.
Our chief organiser and bottle washer Gary Taylor is away basking in the Pacific Islands, he was missed and we look forward to his tales of giant whales, the fish that got away and Island Reds on his return in two weeks.
